Background
Two chimneys were to be relined using VentilFlex-25. The chimneys would serve as commercial kitchen extraction ducts for a Central London multi-storey building near Piccadilly Circus. The tight corridors leading to the old boiler room and the base of the chimney meant that getting access with traditional rigid liners was impossible. The risers would span the full 6-storey height of the building to extract the cooking gases. Preparations included surveying the chimney ducts and establishing their dimensions. Based on this information the team was able to have the linings custom-made to best suit each flue.
Statement of work
The project was secured by accredited FuranFlex-25 installer Toast (Southern), who have carried out many prestigeous installations. The project requirement was lining both chimney flues in as little time as possible. This was achieved in two consecutive days. The team used VentilFlex-25 RKV liners, which were developed for kitchen extraction application. The soft liners are steamed, a process which takes a few hours depending on the liner’s size. During the manufacturing process the liner is tailored to assume the dimensions that best suit the given application. The soft tube is inflated with steam which pushes its walls out to meet the duct and stretch into the corners, providing optimum draught with minimum air turbulance. Heating the liners with steam starts the process of hardening in the material. The finished liner is smooth, jointless and highly corrosion resistant. Thanks to the expert installation and strong product quality control, VentilFlex-25 liners are guaranteed to work for 25 years.
